The Ajrakh sarees are created by printing the fabric first with a resist paste and then dying. The process is repeated with various kinds of dyes until the final pattern in the deep hues is achieved on Ajrakh sarees. This gradual process is time consuming & Climate Dependent. The longer the wait, the more vivid the final print turns out. Thus, the wait time is long for beautiful eye-catching patterns on Ajrakh sarees. The technique of Ajrakh is on the decline as it is being replaced by modern, quicker methods of screen printing unfortunately. The natural, muted colors are being replaced by bright chemical dyes.
