Craft Details
Ajrakh Craft is Natural Dyeing and resist block printing technique on cloth. It is estimated to be around 4000 years old. Sindh region is said to be the birthplace of Ajrakh.The Ajrakh artisans from Khatri Community of Kutch in India are originally from Sindh and they migrated to Kutch in Gujarat India.Around 16-step process required to create a piece of Ajrakh fabric is what makes the outcome so beautiful and intricate.
In the past forty years ajrakh has not only been transformed from a rustic block print into a popular fashion fabric, it has also become the signature cloth of the Khatri communities of Kachchh and is their most successful product.
Fabric Care : All our clothes require love & care wash separately in cold water.Do not soak or scrub hard with brush preferably use mild detergents and do not wash with bleach or chlorine.Drying in shade or diffused light is recommenced.

Sarfaraz Ommer Khatri is a sixth-generation ajrakh block printing artist, following a thirteen-step printing technique that has roots in ancient Indian culture. Sarfaraz’s studio was founded by his father and uses over 800 teak blocks designed by his great-grandfather, creating textile designs that span from traditional to contemporary. He uses natural vegetable dyes that are biodegradable and environmentally-friendly, reviving the lost traditional techniques. His textiles are versatile, often made into saris, scarves, shawls and more.
